How will you use comic books as a ministry tool?

AXIS Grafix will use comic books to illustrate a powerful, Christian message. They will be modern day, futuristic parables giving an artistic representation of a biblical truth.

The comics will be released in four-part mini-series. Issue number one will depict the first point of a 3-point sermon. Issue number two will depict the second point while issue number three will depict the third point. Issue number four will act as the closing and tie all three points together. This may change in number, according to the message (4 part sermon, 7 part sermon, etc.).

In each issue, a Super-Hero/Sci-Fi story will be told in a continuous, ongoing story line. We will develop characters and plot points that will evolve our make-believe universe. But each and every story will be meant to convey a Christian message. At the end of each book, a page of text called the Altar Page will explain the symbolism and meaning within the story. It will describe how the biblical truths were represented and how to apply those truths in our everyday lives. The goal is that the story will help the reader understand the message and then be able to put those principles to practice. The Altar Page will also include a prayer which will lead the reader to accept the saving grace of Jesus Christ and also accept the truths represented within the story.

Our goal is also to develop ministry support through toll free phone lines, Internet live support, mail, E-mail and other methods of communication. We want to raise up volunteer (and some paid staff) to help counsel those readers who write or call in after making a life changing decision. This will be one of the functions of our non-profit organization (Royal Sheep Ministries).

We also hope to partner with other churches around the globe to provide ministry support for these readers who respond. When a reader contacts us from a particular part of the country or world, we would like to be able to direct that reader to a local ministry or church which can provide the face to face attention that new convert will need.

How will AXIS Grafix stories be set up?

Ultimately, we want to have 12 different series of stories. All of these series will take place in the same universe and the storylines will be supportive of each other. If a character or event changes the world in a particular series, that same world is also changed in every other series (though that change may or may not be significant in the other series).

Several characters will play key roles in other AXIS series. However, each series will be designed so that a reader is not required to know the happenings in the other series in order to follow- along in the series they are reading. Each series will be independent as well part of a larger, overall storyline and message. This approach makes our books accessible to anyone.
