To enforce his power on Earth, Chul'Rah's son Cythor had bio engineers create armies of Cy-Droids. Each Cy-Droid would be linked to a specially engineered Prime-Droid who would unify the battalion and be controlled by Cythor himself. The engineers discovered that the Prime-Droids matrix could only handle a dozen Cy-Droids, but a human brain could handle one hundred other matrixes.

Husband and wife, Joseph and Kayla Wells were among the one thousand Navy Seals selected to become Centurions. Soldiers became mindless Prime-Droids for Cythor. But the Wells, somehow linked to each other, were able to keep their individuality. That link preserves them in their lethal Prime-Droid mechanical bodies, and strengthens them in their fight against Cythors armies.
